  CAPTAIN BUDDY VANDERHOOP

Tomahawk Fishing Charters is owned and operated by Capt. Buddy Vanderhoop, a Native American of the Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah, on Martha's Vineyard Island, Massachusetts.

Capt. Vanderhoop is widely known for his ability to catch BIG FISH, he and his clients have won 4 of the last 7 Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby, all with fish over 50 lbs.. Among our most popular targets are abundant Striped Bass, Bluefish, Fluke, Seabass, Albies and offshore big game fish such as Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Longfin Albacore, White Marlin, Blue Marlin, Dorado, Wahoo, and Sharks throughout the seasons.

Capt. Vanderhoop comes from a long line of fishermen dating back to the whaling days, (his great uncle Amos Smalley harpooned "Moby Dick", the only WHITE Sperm Whale ever taken) the Wampanoag Indians were the best harpooners and boatmen in both the Whaling and Swordfishing industries.

Capt. Buddy has done numerous fishing shows with T.V. producer Trevor Gowdy (featuring celebrity guests James Belushi, James Taylor, and Lenny Clarke) which are currently being shown on Outdoor Life Network, and has also done four video's with world renowned underwater videographer Mike Laptew which have sold hundreds of thousands of copies.

Capt. Vanderhoop is also known as the "Guide to the Stars" for his long list of celebrity clients, which include: Keith Richards, Michael Mann, Taj Mahal, Ted Danson, Spike Lee, Charles Ogletree, just to mention a few, and they all come back to fish on the "Tomahawk" year after year because it's a great time and a great experience.

Capt. Buddy has been fishing the waters of Martha's Vineyard for over 45 years, that's at least 20 years longer than any charter captain on the Vineyard. That's why when no one else can find big fish, he comes through, after all his slogan is "Bass Is Our Business And Business Is Good." So why go with the "Rest" when you can go with the "Best." For the charter of a lifetime call soon as the date-book fills up quickly, and its probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on!
